Despite the cold weather, many people stay overnight at tents set up on Long Quan Street in Tay Ho District to guard their kumquat and peach blossom trees.

Some traders made fires to keep warm.

Minh Hoang from the northern province of Phu Tho said that he often had to spend sleepless nights to keep an eye on his bonsai trees displayed for sale on the street.

Each tent accommodates 2-3 people.

At midnight, traders use pieces of canvas to cover kumquat trees.

Hoang Van Trong said that demand for bonsai trees this year was slower than usual due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It is quite noisy, so I almost can’t sleep,” Trong said.

According to Nguyen Van Thanh, his family members are divided into two groups for selling bonsai trees at two different spots.
