A quake with magnitude of 7.1 struck off Java island of Indonesia on the early morning of Apr. 4, with no immediate report of damage or casualty.

The quake’s epicenter was at 293 km southwest of Cilacap, Central Java and with the depth at 10 km, Xinhua news said, citing Indonesia \'s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency as its sources.

After the quake, the Indonesian seismologists issued a tsunami warning, saying the tremor had the potential to cause a killer wave and asking recipients of its public alert SMS to warn others of the danger. Many residents fled their homes.

However, the warning was later cancelled.

The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre had said that there was no risk of a widespread destructive wave, but there was a very small possibility of a local tsunami.

The same day, an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck the Fiji region with no injuries reported.

The undersea quake hit 321 km West of Suva at a depth of 540 km. No tsunami warning was issued.
