On December 6 and 7, former Editor-in-Chief of the DanTri/DTiNews Online Newspaper and vice chairman of the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund's management board, Pham Huy Hoan, and two representatives from the Shinnyo-en Foundation, Harashima and Yonekawa, presented 33 scholarships worth VND 3 million each to students at the University for Finance and Business Management in Hung Yen Province and 55 scholarships worth VND 1 million each to students in Y Yen District, Nam Dinh Province.
According to Nam Dinh authorities, the 55 students who received Shinnyo-en scholarships this year were all from families facing difficulties. Three of them were orphans, four were disabled, with the remainder were from low-income families.
Speaking at the event, Shinnyo-en representative Shoji Harashima said he hoped the scholarships would encourage students to overcome their difficulties and study better.

"We'll try to provide more support to Vietnamese students in the future," he said.
A seventh-grade student, Trinh Phuong Anh, from Nam Dinh Province, expressed her sincere thanks to the Shinnyo-en Foundation and the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund for their presents.
"These scholarships are valuable support to students like us," Anh said. "Thank you so much for your kind help."
The Japanese organisation has cooperated with the Vietnam Fund for Study Promotion for 15 years to provide scholarships to disadvantaged students and build bridges and schools in many areas in Vietnam.
