Japan’s Shinnyo-en Foundation and the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund award 88 scholarships to disadvantaged students in Hung Yen and Nam Dinh provinces on December 6 and 7.

On December 6 and 7, former Editor-in-Chief of the DanTri/DTiNews Online Newspaper and vice chairman of the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund's management board, Pham Huy Hoan, and two representatives from the Shinnyo-en Foundation, Harashima and Yonekawa, presented 33 scholarships worth VND 3 million each to students at the University for Finance and Business Management in Hung Yen Province and 55 scholarships worth VND 1 million each to students in Y Yen District, Nam Dinh Province.

According to Nam Dinh authorities, the 55 students who received Shinnyo-en scholarships this year were all from families facing difficulties. Three of them were orphans, four were disabled, with the remainder were from low-income families.

Speaking at the event, Shinnyo-en representative Shoji Harashima said he hoped the scholarships would encourage students to overcome their difficulties and study better.
