Authorities in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces have all announced the extension of social distancing period as many clusters of infection have yet to be brought under control in the areas.

As the province’s Covid-19 caseload is forecast to climb to 150,000 in the upcoming days, the provincial government has urged testing be boosted in extremely high-risk areas to quickly detect community infections and construction of field hospitals for Covid-19 treatment.

Binh Duong has administered over 856,400 Covid-19 vaccine doses to local residents and will prioritise vaccinations for those in extremely high-risk areas in the coming days.

In Long An, after 43 days of social distancing, Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc, Chau Thanh, Thu Thua, Can Duoc and Tan Tru districts and Tan An City will continue applying anti-virus measures in line with Directive 16 until September 13. Meanwhile, Kien Tuong Town and Vinh Hung, Tan Hung, Moc Hoa, Tan Thanh, Thanh Hoa and Duc Hue will employ the measures until September 6.

The disease in the province has been gradually brought under control but has continued spreading in extremely-high-risk areas. Long An has reported over 21,000 cases, with 265 of them dead.

Moreover, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces will extend social distancing until September 10 and Tay Ninh until September 12, Dong Nai until September 15.
