Rescue efforts are being made to save five people missing after a fishing boat capsized and sank in the Soai Rap River near HCM City and Tien Giang Province.
The fishing boat sank on October 30
Fishing boat Hoang Phuc BTH 97779 sank at 9.30pm on October 30 on the Soai Rap River with 16 fishermen on board. A passing ferry managed to save 11, but five fishermen remain missing.
Tran Minh Sang, one of the rescued fishermen, said they were about to have dinner when a squall hit the boat, causing it to capsize.
The director of the Vung Tau's Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Region No 3, Luong Truong Phi, said the centre was mobilising all its forces to search for the five missing fishermen.
