Gia Lai nears annual investment target with USD 6.3 billion in new projects

Gia Lai attracted nearly VND 165 trillion (approximately USD 6.3 billion) in new investment during the first half of the year, bringing the province close to meeting its full-year investment target.

The province approved 168 new investment projects with total registered capital of nearly VND 165 trillion (approximately USD 6.3 billion) in the first six months of the year, achieving almost 99 per cent of its target of 170 projects, according to the Gia Lai Department of Finance.

Compared with the same period in 2025, the number of projects rose 147.06 per cent, while total registered capital increased 221.51 per cent. The total included 166 domestic projects worth more than VND 164.596 trillion (approximately USD 6.29 billion) and two foreign direct investment projects valued at around USD 12.1 million.

Several large scale renewable energy projects received investment approval, including the Kanak floating solar power plant, the Plei Tho Ga 2 floating solar project with battery storage and the Ha Tay hydropower floating solar project, alongside wind power, hydropower and processing industry developments.

Industry remained the biggest investment destination, attracting 84 projects with registered capital of nearly VND 139.793 trillion (approximately USD 5.34 billion), accounting for about 85 per cent of the province's total registered investment.

The remaining projects were concentrated in infrastructure, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, trade, tourism, information technology and logistics. Most were located outside economic and industrial zones.

Business formation also accelerated during the period. Between the start of the year and July 1, the province registered more than 2,077 new businesses with combined registered capital of VND 29.505 trillion (approximately USD 1.13 billion), up about 38 per cent in number and 153 per cent in registered capital from a year earlier.
