The projects comprise the Dong Nai 2 floating solar power plant and the Ea Po 1 solar power plant.

The larger project, a floating solar farm on the Dong Nai 2 hydropower reservoir, will be developed by Trung Nam Hydropower JSC. It has a total investment of more than VND 4.916 trillion (approximately USD 188 million), a planned capacity of 240 MW and expected annual electricity generation of about 464.2 million kWh. The facility will occupy around 354.8 hectares of the reservoir's surface.
The Ea Po 1 solar power plant, to be built in Dak Wil Commune, will require nearly VND 790 billion (approximately USD 30 million) in investment and have a capacity of 40 MW. The project will include a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 4 MW and storage of 8 MWh, designed to improve grid stability, reduce local congestion and enhance the efficiency of renewable power generation. It is expected to produce around 76.5 million kWh of electricity in its first year of operation.
Nguyen Ba Ut, director of the Lam Dong Department of Industry and Trade, said both projects were aligned with Vietnam's revised Power Development Plan VIII and would help expand clean energy supplies while supporting the province's transition towards a more modern and sustainable economy.
The approvals also mark the beginning of the province's broader implementation of the national power plan. Under the revised blueprint, Lam Dong still has 30 power generation projects awaiting investor selection.
