The system will cover Line 2A, linking Cat Linh and Ha Dong, and Line 3.1, between Nhon and Hanoi Station, as well as the city's subsidised buses.
Passengers can use either chip-based physical transport cards or virtual cards through the ''The ve giao thong HN" app for integrated daily, weekly and monthly passes, as well as free travel passes.
Hanoi Metro plans to work with the Hanoi Public Transport Management Centre to make integrated tickets available through the Hanoi Metro app.
Monthly integrated metro-bus passes will cost 40 per cent less than buying separate monthly passes. Concessionary passes will cost VND 250,000 (USD 9.5) a month and standard passes VND 500,000 (USD 19).
Passengers without smartphones can apply online for a physical transport card, which will be delivered to their registered address within three to five working days.
Those travelling only on the two metro lines can continue buying tickets through the Hanoi Metro app, ticket counters or ticket vending machines at stations.
Hanoi Metro will also launch a monthly pass combining metro travel with TNGo public bicycles, allowing passengers to use both services through the Hanoi Metro app.
TNGo bicycle stations are available at Cat Linh, La Thanh, Lang, Thuong Dinh, Van Khe and Cau Giay stations, providing first- and last-mile connections.
The combined Metro-TNGo monthly pass will offer a 15 per cent discount, or VND 50,000, compared with buying separate passes. It will cost VND 340,000 (USD 13) for concessionary passengers and VND 430,000 (USD 16.3) for standard users.
The integrated system also links metro services with buses, Be ride-hailing services and TNGo bicycles, as Hanoi seeks to improve connections between public transport modes, reduce travel costs and encourage greater use of public transport.
