Da Nang was the site of the 114th post-war repatriation of U.S. remains in Vietnam.
The POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) in coordination with the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) will transfer to U.S. custody remains believe to be those of Americans who died during the war in Vietnam. The remains were recovered by both U.S. excavation teams and Vietnamese citizens.
Attending the ceremony will be U.S. Ambassador, Michael Michalak along with a Military Honor Guard.
To date, 926 Americans have been identified since 1973 -- 655 from Vietnam, 237 from Laos, 31 from Cambodia, and 3 from China. There are 1720 Americans still unaccounted-for from the Vietnam War, including 1313 in Vietnam.
The U.S. has expressed gratitude for the assistance and cooperation it has received in the continued mission to discover the remains of all missing persons from the war.
