Quang Ninh province asked the MoIT and Vietnam Electricity to adjust their plan and create conditions for the province's thermal power plants to increase their electricity generation capacity.

The province also suggested the MoIT direct domestic thermal power plants to receive coal in accordance with the contracts signed with the province’s coal industry and according to the coal supply plan for electricity generation, as approved by the MoIT.

Quang Ninh also asked the MoIT to support the province in promoting investment in building infrastructure for industrial parks in order to attract large enterprises in the areas of manufacturing and processing.

The MoIT and the Party’s Commission for External Relations were also requested to assist the province in boosting import – export activities, border trade, and consumption of local products in both domestic and foreign markets.

Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky emphasised the industry has always been a key pillar of the province, contributing to ensuring national energy security and maintaining its economic development. The province will also close open-pit coal mines as scheduled and its quarries around Ha Long Bay, Ky noted.

According to Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Quang Ninh should build a medium and long-term strategy and vision for the development of its industry based on its local potential and advantages as well as national strategy.

The province also needs to rely on new technology to continue to effectively utilise its coal industry and promote its material industry, mechanical engineering, supporting industries, and the chemicals sector as well as boosting border trade, the night economy, seaport services, logistics, sea and eco-tourism.

The MoIT received Quang Ninh's recommendations and will issue a written response to specific issues.
