
People traveled under the blazing hot weather in Hanoi on June 4.
"Temperatures will sharply drop to 33-35 degrees Celsius from June 6," Hoa said.
According to the centre, the heat wave which has hit the north and central regions since June 1 was caused by the impact of a hot low pressure combined with strong dry winds from the west.
Hanoi and the northern provinces were the hottest regions nationwide on June 3 and 4, with the highest temperature recorded at around 40- 42 degrees Celsius, with humidity below 50%. Ha Dong District in Hanoi reported the highest temperature in the region on June 4 with temperature reaching 42.5 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave will continue today in the northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen in the central region with temperatures ranging from 40 to 41 degrees Celsius.
