Railway sector starts selling summer train tickets

Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has begun a summer train ticket sale programme for various routes.

Starting today, March 24, VNR has opened ticket sales for the Hanoi-HCM City train route for this summer. Currently, five pairs of Thong Nhat trains are being operated regularly on the route, namely SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, and SE9/SE10.

VNR has also sold summer tickets on Hanoi-Vinh, using NA1/NA2 train pair; Hanoi-Dong Hoi (SE19/SE20); HCM City-Danang (SE21/SE22); HCM City-Quy Nhon(SE30/SE29); HCM City-Nha Trang (SNT2/SNT1) and HCM City-Phan Thiet (SPT2/SPT1).

VNR is offering various ticket discounts. Return-trip tickets receive a 5-percent discount on the return leg if bought together. Groups of 20 or more get a 3-7 percent discount when booking 1-19 days in advance, and 5-9 percent if booking 20 days or more ahead, depending on group size.

Passengers booking tickets on SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE9/SE10 (for journeys of 900 kilometres or more), SE21/SE22 (600 kilometres or more), SE29/SE30 (400 kilometres or more), and SNT1/2 (300 kilometres or more) will be offered a five percent discount for bookings made 20 to 39 days in advance, and a ten percent discount for bookings made 40 days or more ahead.

Passengers should note that tickets purchased near the departure date (within two days or less) will pay 5 to 7 percent more.
