According to a document sent to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the assistance will be given to 11,500 households with 53,838 people for a month. They are poor ethnic minority households and those hit by floods last year.
Quang Tri was hard hit by floods last year
Up to 466 tonnes would be given to Huong Hoa District, followed by Dakrong District with 285 tonnes. While the remainder would be provided to Gio Linh, Hai Lang, Cam Lo, Vinh Linh and Con Co districts.
In 2020, roughly 1,129 houses in Quang Tri were damaged by storms and floods.
In October last year, the Vietnamese government also decided to supply 5,000 tonnes of rice for flood victims in the central region.
