The 31-year-old man or Patient 1553 is a staff member from Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh.

A Covid-19 patient in Vietnam
After being tested positive for Covid-19 on January 27, he was quickly sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi for treatment. However, his state has worsened fast with fever, respiratory failure and lung damage. He is now staying at the hospital’s intensive care.
Dr Tran Van Bac from the hospital said that he also had diabetes, which is among factors affecting the Covid-19 treatment.
Meanwhile, a female woman in the northern province of Hai Duong who is also being treated at the hospital has seen lung damage that is not very serious, so she is staying at the Internal Medicine Ward.
Earlier, Luong Ngoc Khue, Health Ministry's Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, said that all locally-infected Covid-19 cases in Vietnam are related to the new and highly transmissible coronavirus strain which is up to 70% more transmissible than the original virus.
