Seized cash and vouchers worth more than VND400 million
At 3pm on February 19th, after a long investigation, authorities raided a home at 147 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, in Hue's Phuc Hau District, where the ring was located. The owner of the house, Do Van Hong, could not provide any business license.
Police confiscated over VND46 million (USD2.300) in cash, 20 gambling vouchers with a combined value of over VND 270 million, and 4 fighting cocks.
22 people were caught in the act of wagering on cockfights. According to the police, this is the largest bust of a cockfighting ring in the province's history.
Including participants and spectators, the ring, which operated on weekends, would regularly attract hundreds.
The police have taken statements of 43 people involved in the operation.

Owner of the cockpit Do Van Hong
Do Van Hong said that the ring has been in operation since 2003, and was renovated in 2009 to encompass 40 square metres. Hong earned anywhere from VND 50,000-200,000 (USD2.5-10) on each bet alongside the money he made from selling concessions.
The case is still under investigation. Although cockfighting itself is not illegal in Vietnam, gambling is.
