
At around 11 pm on Tuesday, lines of cars faced a three-kilometre tailback to access Belt Road 3 leading to the city centre.

Tuan Hai from the northern central city of Thanh Hoa said that his family decided to return to Hanoi right after dinner as they were worried about traffic congestion. However, when they came to Ha Nam Province, they struggled with the serious congestion.

According to Pham Huong from the northern province of Nam Dinh, his family only got home in Hanoi at 11.30 pm, much slower than usual due to the traffic congestion.


The Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department arranged for more staff to be on duty at congested spots, including a section of Phap Van-Cau Gie which leads to the city centre.

Today, February 14, is the last day of the four-day Tet holiday. It is common to see traffic jams on gateway roads to Hanoi on Tet.
