The call was made due to work on the airport’s Terminal 1 which started on July 11. Vietnam Airlines said that the work might slow check-in procedures, causing passengers to be late for their flights.

The carrier also noted that Noi Bai International Airport often faced overcrowding at this time of the year when many people are going on summer holiday.
Passengers should be at the airport two hours before domestic and three prior to international flights respectively. Check-in procedures should be finished at least 30-40 minutes before departure time.
Vietnam Airlines reported that in the first 10 days of this month, around 6,000 passengers were late for their flights.
People are also encouraged to do online check-in so as to avoid long queues and waits.
The airport upgrading work is slated for completion in March 2018. Terminal 1 became operational in 2001 and serves six million passengers a year. Once the terminal gets upgraded, it will be able to serve 15 million passengers annually.
