According to the ministry's report, 14,193 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 40 localities such as HCM City (7,122 cases), Binh Duong (2,194), Dong Nai (871), Long An (857), Tien Giang (234), Kien Giang (201), Tay Ninh (134), Khanh Hoa (97), and Dong Thap (95). There were 15 imported patients confirmed today.
The infection number showed an increase of 1,716 infections compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,161 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 546,683 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (265,846), Binh Duong (138,593), Dong Nai (30,365), Long An (26,432), and Tien Giang (10,988). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 550,996. The country now stands 51st among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On September 7, an additional 10,253 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 311,710.
On Tuesday evening, a further 316 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 13,701. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (253), Binh Duong (40), Long An (7), Tien Giang (7), Khanh Hoa (2), Danang (2), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (2), Dong Thap (1), and Phu Yen (2).
The country has so far conducted over 22.67 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 3.44 million people having received two doses.
