Vietnam tra fish has faced continous hindrance in the world market. |
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has just been informed of the news by the biggest tra fish exporter to the Brazil market. The company said that they got the news from their Brazilian importers.
VASEP confirmed that after being put on this list, the fish would be applied a higher tax by the Brazilian Government and the tax would be estimated at 35%.
According to Brazilian importers, the Brazil Fishing and Aquaculture Association has discussed and agreed on some problems regarding technical assessment criteria as well as quality of tra fish and finally put it on a “special” list.
At mid-year, Brazilian authorities claimed the fish was farmed in an unsafe environment. Furthermore, since tra was cheaper than the white fish raised by Brazilian farmers, consumers prefer tra – which threatens Brazilian farmers and processors.
