Nearly 24,000 Covid-19 patients recover on Wednesday

Vietnam confirmed an additional 8,758 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday and 23.568 more patients recovered from the diseases the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 8,744 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 localities including HCM City (4,699), Binh Duong (2,389), Dong Nai (899), Long An (132), Soc Trang (112), and Kien Giang (82). There were 14 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infection number showed an increase of 4,161 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 4,984 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 774,854 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (384,287), Binh Duong (208,953), Dong Nai (47,969), Long An (32,343), and Tien Giang (13,951). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 779,398. The country now stands 44th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 29, an additional 23,568 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 583,509.

On Wednesday evening, a further 162 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 19,098 . The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (113), Binh Duong (33), Dong Nai (3), An Giang (3), Kien Giang (2), Long An (2), Dong Thap (2), Can Tho (1), Ca Mau (1), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1), and Tien Giang (1).

The country has so far conducted over 41.15 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 8.98 million people having received two doses.
