The local authorities in Cho Mo Village, Ba Vi District, and the village women’s union have sent people to help Tien in the past few days as she was too much in pain to work. Phung Thi Thanh, Tien's neighbour, said Tien worked as a bricklayer to treat her son but then she fell and couldn't get up anymore.

"It hurt a lot but she didn't have money to go to the hospital. Three days ago, her husband borrowed everyone for VND3m to bring her to the doctors but after the examination, they returned home," Thanh said.

Tien laid on the bed all day as it hurt whenever she turned her body. Doctors said Tien might have many illnesses and need to take more tests but she refused. She still worried about her son as his condition is getting worse. After several radiotherapy sessions, he looks very pale and thin.

Do Tien Cong, head of the local farmer union, said, "We all know that Tien is the pillar of this family. They have three children together but one is disabled and another one has cancer. We don't know how to help them because everyone around here is poor."
