More problems for Vinashin as PM suspends new general director

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has suspended Tran Quang Vu from the post of Vinahin’s Genereal Executive Director.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has suspended Tran Quang Vu from the post of Vinahin’s Genereal Executive Director.

Vinashin is being restructured to operate efficiently.

The suspension comes just two months after he was assigned to the position at Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin).

According to Nguyen Xuan Phuc, chairman and spokesman of the Government Office, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, head of the steering committee for restructuring the country’s largest ship builder, has signed a decision to suspend Tran Quang Vu from the post of Vinashin’s General Executive Director which he took over in July.

In addition to Tran Quang Vu, another member of the board of directors of Vinashin, Tran Van Liem, was also suspended for further inspection and review of Vinashin’s operations.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc acknowledged that the Prime Minister requested that Vinashin’s board of directors suspend Tran Quang Vu from his post.

Tran Quang Vu was previously general director of the Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industry Company (NASICO), a subsidiary of Vinashin.
