Pham Thi Anh Dao, a representative from Hanoi Railway Transport JSC, said that passenger numbers have sharply dropped due to Covid-19.
Many trains routes to tourist sites to be suspended for Covid-19 prevention
Six trains currently operate on the Hanoi-Yen Bai-Lao Cai route daily. However, from tomorrow, March 26, they will be suspended.
The company will also temporarily stop the operation of two trains on the Hanoi-Vinh route. Meanwhile, the firm will only maintain two trains on the Hanoi-Vinh route, four trains on Hanoi-Haiphong and four on Hanoi-HCM City routes.
Saigon Railway Transport JS Company has also ceased trains from HCM City to tourist sites such as Quy Nhon, Danang and Phan Thiet cities. It now maintains two trains on HCM City-Nha Trang and four trains on the HCM City-Hanoi service.
Hanoi Railway Transport JSC earlier reduced many train services from Hanoi to Lang Son and Thai Nguyen provinces and Ha Long City.
Passengers who had booked tickets on the cancelled trains will get a refund.
