The Ministry of Health has decided to apply a longer home quarantine time for people returning to localities nationwide from HCM City.
Under the ministry’s decision issued on July 12, returnees from HCM City have to undergo a 14-day self-quarantine at home, instead of seven days as previously regulated.
During the quarantine period, residents will be provided with three Covid-19 tests on the first, the seventh and 13th day.
According to the Ministry of Health the number of people returning to cities and provinces across the country from HCM City has been on the rise and many of them have tested positive for Covid-19.
HCM City has remained the nation’s biggest Covid-19 hotspot with a sharp rise in local infections daily. The city has built more field hospitals and used resettlement areas and schools as quarantine sites.
Hanoi has decided to provide Covid-19 tests for all people returning from HCM City from June 23.
Between June 23 and July 7, around 6,002 people in Hanoi returned from HCM City.
