Local airlines report low delay and cancellation rate

Last year, Vietnamese airlines transported nearly 50 million passengers, an increase of 10.1% compared to 2017. Of which Vietjet Air transported over 23 million passengers, increased by 40% in 2017, and 118.923 flights, increased by 21.8%.

The delay and cancellation rates in general were low. This rate was only 0.1% at Vietjet Air last year, 0.2% at Vietnam Airlines, 0.5% and 1.5% at Jetstar Pacific and Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco).

This rate in May was 0.1% for Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways, 0% at Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific and 1.1% at Vasco.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietjet Air has the lowest delayed and cancellation rate from 2014 to 2018.

Demand for air travel are still huge as reported last year and in early 2019, leaving rooms for the aviation industry to grow. Local airlines are urged to improve and ensure aviation safety for passengers. The airline sector's development is said to be closely related to the country's GDP's growth rate and plays an important role in the country's economic development.
