According to Hanoi fire authorities, the fire started at 1.20pm at a store of Petroleum Real Estate Joint Stock Company which is located just 50 metres away from the Keangnam tower, Vietnam's tallest building.
The fire quickly spread to the workers' hut nearby and covered an area of about 500 square metres.
The fire caused long traffic jams on Pham Hung Street
More than 10 fire trucks and dozens of firefighters have been sent to the site who controlled the fire at around 3pm.
