The incident happened on the afternoon of September 3 in Tuc Dan Commune, Tram Tau District.
One of the injured people due to the landslide
The two dead people are Vang Thi Phenh, 50, and 8-month-old Hang Thi Dinh. Meanwhile, seven injured people are being provided with the treatment at Nghia Lo General Hospital.
Local authorities provided VND2.7 million (VND122.7) for each injured victim and VND5.4 million (USD245.5) for families of the dead.
The landslide was caused by torrential rains in the western area of Yen Bai Province.
The recent heavy rains have caused flash floods and landslides for many northern mountainous localities, including Yen Bai Province, resulting in dozens of deaths and left many missing in northern mountainous localities. Many houses and schools have been also damaged.
