A landslide buries a home in Yen Bai Province on June 26.

Speaking to Dantri on June 26, Luong Xuan Quynh, chairman of Dong Tam Ward in Yen Bai City, confirmed that the incident occurred at around 1 am the same day.

"A large volume of earth and rocks from the hillside behind the house suddenly collapsed onto the building while four people were asleep inside. Three of them, who were sleeping in the same room, managed to escape. A 15-year-old boy sleeping in a separate room was unable to get out in time and was buried under the debris," Quynh said.

The landslide happened during heavy rainfall.

Emergency response units from the Yen Bai Provincial Police Fire and Rescue Department were quickly deployed to the site with specialised vehicles. By 4 am, rescue workers recovered the victim's body from the rubble.

Heavy rain over the past two days has caused widespread flooding and landslides in Yen Bai City and surrounding areas, disrupting local life and transportation.
