The incident occurred on the evening of August 13, prompting several aircraft to enter holding patterns while authorities on the ground dealt with the kite.
The chief duty officer at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City told Dantri/Dtinews that the airport was assessing the impact of the incident.
Ground authorities had dealt with the kite and the airport did not need to activate an emergency response, the official said.
Several flights were nevertheless affected.

According to Flightradar24 data, Sun PhuQuoc Airways flight SPQ983 from Danang to Ho Chi Minh City made two holding loops before landing at 8.42 pm.
Emirates flight EK392 from Dubai also entered a holding pattern for about four loops before landing at 8.53 pm.
More seriously, Vietnam Airlines flight VN595 from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City was forced to hold before diverting to Cam Ranh Airport.
Authorities at Tan Son Nhat were continuing to assess the consequences of the incident.
The latest disruption came two days after Tan Son Nhat Airport twice suspended take-offs and landings on the evening of August 11 after an unmanned aerial vehicle was detected in the area.
That incident affected more than 70 flights, with three aircraft forced to make emergency landings because they were running low on fuel.
