Several hydropower plants in the central region have started discharging water from their reservoirs at a flow rate from 200 to 2,000 cubic metres per second from 7 pm Monday, worsening the flooding in Hoi An.
Districts of Quang Nam next to the Thu Bon River, including Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban, Dai Loc have also been affected.

Some travellers even hired boats to enjoy the town, but deeply-flooded are banned from entry.
This year, due to Covid-19, the number of tourists to Hoi An has sharply fallen so the boat service attracts fewer customer.
