According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern Vietnam and areas from Thanh Hoa Province to Danang will see sunny conditions on May 31, with some locations experiencing hot weather. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected during the evening and overnight hours.
In Hanoi, dry and sunny weather is forecast throughout May 31, with temperatures ranging from 29 to 33 degrees Celsius during the morning and midday, rising to between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius in the afternoon and evening. Some areas may experience heatwave conditions.
Meanwhile, southern Vietnam and Lam Dong Province are expected to continue experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms through May 31. Rainfall totals of 30-80mm are forecast, with some areas receiving more than 150mm.
Meteorologists have warned of intense rainfall rates that could exceed 100mm within three hours.
From June 1, these regions are expected to see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localised heavy rain remaining possible.
Elsewhere across the country, isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast, while scattered storms are expected during the afternoon and evening, with some areas likely to experience heavy rainfall.
The weather agency warned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusty winds.
Forecasters said northern Vietnam is likely to face a widespread heatwave between June 3 and June 5. Central Vietnam may also experience widespread hot weather from June 2 to June 3, although isolated evening and overnight showers and thunderstorms are still expected.

In the southern part of the South Central Coast region, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast during the late afternoon and evening from June 2 to June 3, with localised heavy rain possible.
