"He coughs like that several times a day. He has leukaemia so he is very weak. Sometimes, he fainted and we were all in a panic," Hien said.
Their firstborn, Phan Dinh Tuan, was healthy at birth but two years ago, he suddenly had a high fever with bumps on his body. In August 2018, the family borrowed money in order to bring him to National Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Tuan has gone through several chemotherapy sessions but his condition is still unpredictable.
"We are really worried. Doctors said he would need at least three years of treatment," Hien said.

Hien has to stay home to look after the children and her husband does every job he can to support the family. Their relatives are too poor to help them. Hien's sister is also struggling with two ill children. Hien's father-in-law had a stroke and her brother-in-law died two months ago.
"Both of our sons need to go to the hospital for a check-up but we have run out of money," Hien said. "We are helpless. We can do anything to make our children healthy."
