Reports from the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting said that many provinces in the north had seen heavy rains with total rainfall exceeding 70mm from 7 pm on May 2 to 3 am on May 3, including Son La (95.60mm), Hoa Binh (83.80mm), Hanoi (100.80mm), Thanh Hoa (76.20mm), and Nghe An (98mm).

Rain, thunderstorms, and hail will continue in the region in the coming days, and average temperatures will fall between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius.

A resident was killed by lightning, and over 1,200 houses were unroofed after thunderstorms slammed into the northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Bac Kan, and Tuyen Quang from April 30 to May 1, according to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

Meanwhile, the central provinces from Quang Nam to Quang Ngai and the Central Highlands region will still see hot weather, with temperatures between 32-35 degrees Celsius today, and rains may come in the evening. Intense hot weather will continue ravaging the southern region, with temperatures between 34-38 degrees Celsius, and rains may also come in the afternoon and evening.

The prolonged heat wave in the Central Highlands and southern regions will end with rains on May 5.
