Mrs. Tuyet in Binh Thanh District, HCM City, said “Usually, these days, the weather in HCM is so nice. This morning was the coldest in more than 20 years. I would expect this weather can continue until the Tet Holiday.”

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting says temperatures in the south should rise in coming days.

In 1993, some areas in the southern region recorded temperature below 15C.

Many northern localities have witnessed cold weather with temperatures dropping to 1-2C in the mountainous town of Sapa, a famous tourism spot. This brought the season's first snowfalls to Sapa on 10 January.
