The Department of Construction has informed the HCM City People’s Committee of local old apartment building repairs between the 2016 and 2020 period.

According to the department, 246 old apartment buildings have not yet been repaired during that period, so the department has suggested spending VND500 billion on the repair to prevent them from seriously deteriorating.
HCM City has 26 projects to rebuild old apartment buildings in different districts. Of these, 14 have been demolished.
According to the HCM City Department of Construction, as of September last year, over 333 households in six old apartment buildings which were built before 1975 had been resettled and 303 households in five other apartment buildings are due to be resettled.
The rebuilding of old apartment buildings in HCM City has been slow due to obstacles in procedures. Specifically, deteriorated apartment buildings have to be rebuilt with the agreement of all households in the apartment buildings.
