The municipal authorities agreed this morning, December 9, that 224 roads in different districts in the city would be named.
Among those, four in Thu Thiem New Urban Area will be renamed after historic figures, consisting of Vietnamese revolutionary, scholar and journalist Tran Bach Dang; Professor Nguyen Thien Thanh, Former Minister of Public Security Bui Thien Ngo and Poet To Huu.

Meanwhile, Cu Chi District accounts for the major part of the named roads with 170. Most of the roads in Cu Chi have been named after Vietnamese heroic mothers, including mothers Le Thi So and Phan Thi Truyen.
Earlier, HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed to fix the name of many local streets which have spelling mistakes. For instance, lots of streets in the city are wrongly written compared to the HCM City People's Committee's decisions; while others are named wrong because of misspellings in city documents.
