HCM City Department of Transport and Onefin Vietnam Joint Stock Company announced the launch of the EMV Open-loop payment system to allow the non-cash payment on three bus routes 1, 43 and 65 on May 17.
Commuters can use their bank cards, e-wallets and apps for the payment.
The model would be expanded for more bus routes in HCM City in the coming time.
According to Phan Cong Bang, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Transport, the cashless payment for bus tickets was necessary for the city. When the service quality is improved, buses would lure more passengers. This would help to ease traffic jams in HCM City.
HCM City’s bus route 1 links Ben Thanh Market and Cho Lon Market. Route 43 connects Mien Dong Station and Cat Lai Ferry and route 65 runs from Ben Thanh Market and An Suong Station.
