According to the Ministry of Health, the test using the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for the 21-year-old man was negative, meaning that he had not been re-infected with the virus nearly two months after being released from hospital.
The man from Cau Giay District returned to Vietnam from Russia on August 10. During the quarantine time in the northern province of Hai Duong, he tested positive for a second time and was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on August 25. He stayed at the hospital until September 17.
On November 7, he came to Hanoi Transport Hospital and was diagnosed with viral fever. He was instructed for self-treatment at home. One week afterwards, he continued having high fever and went to hospital for an examination again. The hospital sent his blood sample to the National Children's Hospital for a Covid-19 test. On Sunday, the result showed that he was infected with the virus again.
However, today, November 16, the National Hospital for Tropical Disease conducted a RT-PCR test which indicated that he was negative for the virus.
