Hanoi Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh on Tuesday issued an urgent dispatch requiring the strict implementation of home quarantine regulations on all people returning from areas with high or very high risks of Covid-19 infections including some southern localities of HCM City, Binh Duong, Long An, and Dong Nai.
According to the dispatch, fully-vaccinated people or those having recovered from Covid-19 coming to Hanoi from high risk areas are required to self-quarantine at home or places of residence for seven days. During the seven-day quarantine period, they will be tested for Covid-19 on the first and the seventh day.
People not vaccinated are required to self-quarantine at home or places of residence for seven days and then self-monitor their health for another seven days. During the quarantine period they will also be tested for Covid-19 on the first and the seventh day.
The new regulations are said to affect people's traveling to the capital city for short business trips.
Statistics from Hanoi's Health Department showed that the city has detected some Covid-19 infections from people who returned from other areas but the number is small compared to the cases found locally.
The capital has reported a growing number of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infections in recent days. The city has so far recorded 16 coronavirus outbreaks. On November 15 the city recorded a total of 289 new infections, the highest figure since the start of the outbreak in the country.
Since November 15, Hanoi has permitted people who have had close contact with Covid-19 patients (F1) to choose local hotels for their quarantine. The city has also allowed elderly, pregnant women, sick people and those aged below 18 to stay at home for self-quarantine.
