According to Dr Do Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the Spine Surgery Department at Viet Duc Hospital, in the first two weeks of January, 756 people were admitted to the hospital due to traffic accident-related injuries, compared to 738 during the same period in 2024. However, only 458 cases required surgery, a sharp decrease compared to 100 per cent for the same period last year.

Dr. Hung added that Viet Duc Hospital, as a leading central surgical facility, frequently receives many patients, including severe cases referred from lower-level hospitals.
The rate of alcohol consumption among patients admitted to the hospital in the first two weeks of January dropped to 12.83 per cent compared to 50 per cent in previous years.
The hospital has developed a plan for the Tet holiday shift, ensuring emergency teams are on duty 24/7 and cover all specialities. Additionally, backup teams have been arranged to respond immediately in case of overload, large-scale accidents, or emergencies.
The hospital has organised mobile emergency teams to assist lower-level hospitals with severe cases that cannot be transferred and has integrated telemedicine consultations when necessary.
