Several landslides were reported on steep slopes and main roads in Tam Dao Commune on September 17 following days of widespread heavy rain.
Soil and rocks spilled onto roads, disrupting traffic and posing risks to residents and visitors, local police said.
Tourists have been advised to postpone or limit trips to Tam Dao while heavy rain persists and to follow safety guidance in landslide-prone areas.
On September 15, a landslide on Kim Dong Street in Tam Dao sent about 50 cubic metres of soil and rocks onto the road, causing estimated damage of around VND 80 million (USD 3,040).
Continued heavy rain has raised the risk of further landslides on steep slopes and mountain roads.
Heavy rain has also caused flooding and landslide risks elsewhere in Phu Tho Province, prompting local forces to evacuate residents and property from vulnerable areas.
In Muong Bi Commune, a family was moved to safety after its home was identified as being at risk from prolonged rain.
In An Binh Commune, 13 households facing flooding and landslide risks received assistance to move their belongings to safer areas, while 43 life jackets were distributed to residents in flood-prone locations.
Heavy rain also flooded a local road in Son Luong Commune on September 17. Police erected barriers and warning signs and diverted traffic away from the affected section.
Local forces across Phu Tho remain on alert as heavy rain continues, monitoring areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides.
