The Ho Chi Minh City High Command announced on September 17 that an additional 17 sets of soldiers' remains had been recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park.
The latest discovery brings the total number of remains exhumed at the site to 663.
Authorities have also recovered 298 associated artefacts during the search and excavation process.

On the same day, search teams continued expanding the excavation area in an effort to locate more remains.
To support the operation, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command deployed three excavators, dump trucks and two 3.5-tonne trucks for earth removal and transportation, helping maintain the pace of the recovery effort.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park was launched on July 6 following the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra at a workshop verifying information about a mass grave of martyrs in the area.
Earlier, based on witness accounts and historical records, the Ho Chi Minh City Command estimated that hundreds of martyrs killed during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising may have been buried in Do Thanh - Chi Hoa cemetery, now Le Thi Rieng Park.
