Two killed, five injured in Ho Chi Minh City house fire

A pre-dawn house fire in a narrow alley in Ho Chi Minh City left two people dead and five others injured on September 17, authorities said.

A fire broke out at around 1.25 am at a house in an alley off Pham Huu Chi Street in Cho Lon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, according to local authorities.

Seven people were inside the house when the blaze erupted.

Residents living nearby responded to cries for help and attempted to contain the fire before emergency services arrived. They also alerted the authorities.

After receiving the report, Cho Lon Ward Police coordinated with firefighters to reach the scene and launch rescue operations.

The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 2.36 am.

Rescue teams evacuated five injured people from the burning house and transported them to hospital for treatment.

Two people were killed in the incident, including a 95-year-old woman. The identity of the second victim had not been confirmed as of September 17.

Authorities have secured the scene and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
