The Vietnam Traffic Safety Innovation Contest 2026 was officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17 to encourage ideas and solutions that contribute to building a safer and more civilised traffic culture.
The competition is jointly organised by Dantri Newspaper, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, Toyota Motor Vietnam and other partner organisations.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department, Pham Viet Cong, highlighted the significance of the programme after five years of implementation and stressed the need to enhance the practicality and real-world application of road safety initiatives.
Pham Tuan Anh, Editor-in-Chief of Dantri, expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Traffic Police Department, Toyota Motor Vietnam, government agencies, experts, universities, businesses and other partners that have contributed to the programme over the past five editions.
Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Deputy General Director of Toyota Motor Vietnam, said the contest has attracted increasing public interest and participation since its inception.
According to Toyota Vietnam, more than 2,000 entries from across the country and millions of online engagements over four previous editions demonstrate the public's growing concern for road safety and the creativity of participants in addressing traffic-related challenges.
At a workshop held as part of the launch event, Associate Professor Dr Dam Hoang Phuc said this year's competition is designed to engage young people while remaining open to participants of all ages. The initiative aims to encourage broader involvement in promoting safe traffic behaviour and creating opportunities for innovative ideas to be implemented in practice.
Entries will be accepted from September 17 to December 15, 2026. Competition rounds are scheduled to take place between December 2026 and January 2027.
The contest offers total prize money of VND 255 million (approximately USD 9,800).
