Hanoi People's Committee has asked discos, bars, and karaoke parlors to temporarily shut down from February 1 as the city takes measures to prevent and control the spread of the latest Covid-19 outbreak.

The closure will last until further notice from local authorities.

Meanwhile, local restaurants have been asked to take proper measures for virus prevention.

All local schools will also be temporarily closed from February 1 until February 16.

People are advised to limit mass gatherings if not necessary.

Hanoi is carrying out viral testings for all people who had returned from the Covid-19 hotspot of Chi Linh City in Hai Duong Province from January 1 and from Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province from January 5.

It is estimated that about 20,000 people had returned from the virus-hit area.

Between January 28-31, Hanoi reported 15 Covid-19 infection cases which are all linked to the hotspot Hai Duong province.
