Foreign experts, investors, managers and diplomats entering Vietnam for less than 14 days will not have to follow the mandatory quarantine period, according to the latest instructions issued by the Ministry of Health.
All entrants, however, shall have to strictly and fully comply with the country’s regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control, including wearing face masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Those who enter Vietnam for diplomatic and official purposes must have international insurance papers or organisations that invite them will bear all treatment expenses if they contract Covid-19 in Vietnam.
Since September 1, incoming travellers shall have to pay for quarantine costs but those who come for diplomatic missions are exempted from the fees.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, 93,720 foreigners were working in Vietnam as of August.
Localities nation-wide and representative diplomatic agencies of some countries are asking Vietnam to permit over 7,200 foreign workers, mainly from China, Japan and South Korea, to enter Vietnam.
As of Thursday morning, Vietnam had 1,046 Covid-19 cases, including 746 recoveries and 34 deaths.
