A representative of Phu Quoc International Airport said on April 20 that traffic during the peak period covering Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day is expected to increase sharply.
Flight numbers are projected to rise by about 32 per cent year on year, while passenger volume could climb 44 per cent. The airport is expected to handle an average of 118 flights per day, with peak days reaching up to 130 flights, the highest level recorded in recent years.
Daily passenger throughput is forecast at around 22,000, with the busiest routes connecting to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Danang.

To prepare, a new apron area under the airport’s expansion project was brought into operation on April 16 after three months of construction, adding five aircraft parking positions ahead of the holiday rush.
The airport has also upgraded infrastructure, including full terminal wifi coverage, improved flight information display systems and enhanced 4G and 5G connectivity. Biometric technology has been introduced in check in procedures to shorten processing times for passengers.
Operational plans have been reviewed for different time slots, with additional staff deployed to key areas such as security screening, check in counters and baggage claim to ensure smooth operations during the peak period.
