Woman falls into deep hole while taking photos in Son Tra

A 19-year-old woman fell into a deep hole while taking photos on Son Tra Peninsula in Danang City and was rescued safely on the night of August 11.

According to Danang Police Department, at about 7.40 pm that day, emergency services received a report that someone had fallen into a deep hole on Son Tra Peninsula. A rescue vehicle and eight rescuers were dispatched to the scene.

The woman had fallen about 100 metres from the road. She was conscious when rescuers found her.

Using ropes, torches, safety harnesses and protective helmets, the rescue team brought her out of the hole.

At about 8.55 pm, she was taken to safety and handed over to medical personnel.

The woman was identified as a 19-year-old university student in Danang. She said she had accidentally slipped and fallen into the hole while taking photos on the peninsula.

On the morning of August 8, a group of six people walked to Mui Nghe on Son Tra Peninsula to take photos and swim. Three women, all aged 24, and a 30-year-old man were swept away by waves.

A local fishing boat rescued the man, while one of the women was found alive later that afternoon. Two people remain missing.

The Son Tra Peninsula and Danang Tourist Beaches Management Board has warned residents and visitors against standing near cliffs or steep edges to take photos or film videos. It also urged people not to cross barriers or enter areas marked with danger warnings.
