The project covers more than 400 hectares and is designed as a major sports, cultural and entertainment complex, intended to host top-level competitions as well as large-scale international cultural and artistic events.

At the heart of the complex will be the VinFast - Trong Dong Stadium, covering 73.3 hectares and with a capacity of up to 135,000 spectators. Vingroup describes it as the world’s largest stadium by seating capacity.
The central stadium will be surrounded by training grounds and specialised sports facilities designed to meet requirements for Olympic-level sporting events. Among them will be a 40,000-seat Olympic stadium built to international standards for world athletics competitions and other major sporting and cultural events.
The VinFast - Trong Dong stadium is expected to be completed in July 2027. It is intended to become a new symbol of Vietnamese sport and a venue for major cultural and artistic events.
On July 30, Vingroup announced that VinFast would be the official name of the stadium.
The group, owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, said choosing the VinFast brand for the country's flagship sporting venue was intended to honour Vietnamese determination, intellect and spirit in a new era, while expressing aspirations for Vietnam to reach further and promote its image as a developing and prosperous country internationally.
The VinFast - Trong Dong Stadium takes its design inspiration from Dong Son bronze drums and the Lac bird, a prominent symbol in Vietnamese culture.
The Hanoi International Sports Urban Area covers about 9,200 hectares and is planned around an international-standard sports complex.
